Coming Soon! Glass Pendant Kit
In an effort to create a more durable solution than some water soluble glazing solutions , I have been working on a pewter pendant tray that will accept a glass square. Getting really close and will soon have this available in the shop.
Golden Supply Co. grew out John's attempts to share some of what he has learned with others. In that spirit, we have established a section here to share with you the sources we have found along the way that might sometimes be in a better position to meet your supply needs. We've got a lot of your bases covered here when it comes to pendants, rings and such, but we can't carry every product you might need.
We also want to use this section to point you to some of the great people and places on the web that like to share and encourage others to know what it feels like to make something.
If you subscribe to the Golden Supply Co. Newsletter, you'll have access to all the latest news and product releases from GSC. We'll also be including subscriber-only discounts!!
The Video That Started It All!
In May 2008, I filmed myself creating my graphic rings and pendants, for the purposes of making a resin tutorial that would help visual folks like myself get a
feel for what it is like to work with resin. I also hoped it might encourage some folks to be creative.
The response has been amazing! Lots of people have watched the video and many have contacted me with kind words. So sharing has bee very rewarding.
But...folks were having trouble finding the blanks I use.
Due to the difficulties folks were having finding the ring shanks or blanks and pendant plates, I decided I should make it as easy as possible for folks to find the parts needed to do what I am trying to teach with my tutorial. So, I am making these parts available through the Golden Supply Co. Online Store.Note: Etsy members can buy these on Etsy here.
Below are examples of what I make using these pendant plates and ring blanks. I use resin, but you could use cabochons, glass, polymer clay, maybe even precious metal clay.
Graphic Rings
Similar to photo jewelry, these rings are made using graphics that I create that are placed in the deep-welled silver plated ring blanks and covered with 2 coats of EasyCast resin.
These rings are deep enough to embed objects in the resin if you are of such a mind :)
Similar to the graphic rings, the pendants use my graphics and altered photos. Only one coat of resin is necessary when using the pewter and silver plated pewter pendants. Some embedding would be possible with this depth of resin.
If you use the deep-welled silver plated pendants, two coats of resin are recommended.
We have all kinds of pendants and finishes in the GSC shop.
